Michele
Nicole Johnson has roots in the Carolinas, but lives on Sapelo Island, Ga., where
she is a freelance writer and designer, and the volunteer librarian at Hog
Hammock Public Library.
“My father taught me about perspective
when I was a little girl,” Johnson said. “I remember him showing me how to draw
a road with a fence alongside it and mountains in the background.”
She did her undergraduate studies in newspaper journalism, and her minor was graphic design. She sold her first piece of art more than 15 years ago, when she was a member of the Beaches Art Center, a co-op in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
“A tourist from California bought it. It felt exciting and a little weird at first, having someone actually buy my art, but I got used to it real fast!”
