Darien, Ga., native Flora Mungin Youmans worked as an educator
in Michigan and South Carolina. After retiring, she returned to her Coastal
Georgia hometown, where she now resides.
“I have always admired drawings and paintings, but could never draw more than a crooked line,” Youmans said. “I took my first art lesson in November 2007 at the Old Jail Art Center in Darien, and I have been painting ever since.”
Coastal waters, flowers and landscapes are what she finds most interesting to paint. Most of her work is done in oil.
“Painting is very relaxing,” she said, “and it’s quite a joy to see a product come to life on the canvas.”
